Update: Man charged with murder after elderly resident found dead in Mandurah

Updated: Police have charged a Mandurah man with murder.

Police have charged a man with murder after an eldery resident was found dead in a Mandurah unit on Sunday night.

Officers were called to the property on Mandurah Terrace where they located the body of a man, in his 70s, about 9:45pm.

Skeer Media broke the news that investigators were treating the area as a murder scene.

Homicide officers with the assistance of Mandurah Detectives spent the night and most of Monday at the property gathering evidence.

Investigators have since charged a 31-year-old Mandurah man, believed to be the deceased’s son, with murder.

He is expected to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Investigators are expected to be at the property for some time.
