Breaking: Police manhunt comes to an end after pursuit in South Yunderup
Police have made an arrest after several hour manhunt involving a pursuit in South Yunderup on Tuesday.
Officers have just swarmed Barron Turn and arrested a man who was allegedly at the wheel of a white Toyota hatchback involved in a pursuit earlier today.
It’s understood police engaged in a chase with the rental car about 1:30pm, as it allegedly reached speeds of up to 200 kilometres per hour on the Kwinana Freeway.
The pursuit came to an end when the hatchback turned into a garage in South Yunderup but the chase didn’t stop there.
The driver fled on foot into nearby bushland sparking and extensive search involving the police dog squad and air-wing.
For several hours officers were unable to locate the driver but pounced when he resurfaced out of scrub and into a property on Barron Turn near Driver Link about 4:15pm.
A passenger, a woman, was questioned by police.
The driver is expected to face a string of charges.
