Crime spree ends with alleged high-speed pursuit east of Perth

Two men have been charged after an alleged two-day crime spree, involving a handgun and stolen cars, came to an end east of Perth

It’s understood a man allegedly robbed a woman of her red Volkswagen Golf as she got out to open the gate of a Railway Parade property in Maylands about 7:35pm on Wednesday.

The man, a 27-year-old from Girrawheen, then allegedly fled the scene and picked up another man a short distance away.

Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle in Koondoola about 9:11pm before the car allegedly sped off.

Police engaged in a pursuit with the vehicle as PolAir tracked it through several suburbs from above.

The men, allegedly abandoned the car as it crashed into a temporary builders fence, surrounding a vacant block, on the corner of Orrong Road and Roberts Road in Carlisle.

Police including detectives, the dog squad and plain-clothed agents swarmed the area as the two men allegedly fled on foot.

The men were located in the backyards of nearby properties.

Skeer Media’s cameras were there as one of the men was arrested on Satellite Place.

Its alleged the pair were connected to a violent home invasion, involving a handgun, in East Victoria Park on Tuesday.

Police alleged the 27-year-old Girrahwheen man broke into a Mint Street home and threatened to kill a 68-year-old resident with a gun just before midnight.

It’s alleged he stole the man’s Subaru Forrester and fled before dumping the vehicle in Balga several hours later.

The 27-year-old is facing a string of charges including aggravated armed robbery, stealing a motor vehicle and possessing a controlled weapon in a manner likely to cause fear.

The second man, a 23-year-old from South Guildford, was charged with removing or interfering with monitoring equipment to prevent or impede monitoring of a person’s location, stealing a motor vehicle and aggravated robbery.

The two are due to face court today.
