The ultimate owner of Skeer News is Skeer Media, whose role it is to secure editorial and financial independence of the Skeer News in perpetuity. Reader contributions support Skeer News journalism and its operations.

Acceptance of any contribution, gift or grant is at the discretion of Skeer Media. Skeer News will not accept any gift unless it can be used or expended consistently with the purpose and mission of the Skeer News.
Contribution terms and conditions
Skeer News and Skeer Media would like to provide an opportunity for Skeer brand supporters in Australia to make a financial contribution to Skeer Media and thereby support our commitment to providing the Skeer News with financial and editorial independence into perpetuity.
These Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between Skeer Media and each contributor, including the terms on which contributions may be accepted, refused, or returned by Skeer Media. Contributions will only be accepted in the form of either a one-off payment or recurring payments made directly to Skeer Media as described in these Terms and Conditions.
1. AGREEMENT
By making a contribution, a contributor agrees and acknowledges that:
1.1 The contribution is provided to Skeer Media as an irrevocable gift, subject to any exercise of the contributor’s right to receive a refund as described below and Skeer Media right to return any contribution at its discretion;
1.2 The contribution will be used by Skeer Media to support its Editorial operations; and
1.3 The contribution is made subject to these Terms and Conditions, which shall constitute a legally binding agreement between the contributor and Skeer Media (the “Agreement”), entered into by each party in consideration of the other’s obligations under these Terms and Conditions.
2. RECURRING CONTRIBUTION PAYMENTS
2.1 A contributor who wishes to make recurring contribution payments agrees to pay his or her selected contribution amount on a rolling basis.
2.2 Recurring contribution amounts can be changed without cancellation via the “contributions” tab in his or her online identity account. The new amount will be billed from the next contribution date.
2.3 The contributor must provide us with complete and accurate payment information at the time he or she agrees to pay a recurring contribution. Payment for recurring contributions can be made by credit/debit card or PayPal.
2.4 The contributor’s payments will be taken on a rolling basis and the recurring contribution will continue unless and until it is ended by either of us in accordance with the provisions of section 5 (Refunds and Cancellation of Contributions).
3. CONDITIONS
3.1 Contributions will be accepted from individuals as well as any other legal entities.
3.2 Contributors who are individuals must be aged 18 or over and Australian residents. All other contributors must be incorporated, established and/or registered in Australia (as applicable).
3.3 The maximum aggregate contribution from any one contributor via skeernews.com.au (the “Skeer News website”) is AUD $16,000 (sixteen thousand Australian dollars).
3.4 The maximum monthly contribution from anyone contributor via the Skeer News Website is AUD$200 (two hundred Australian dollars).
4. ADMINISTRATION OF CONTRIBUTIONS
4.1 All contributions to Skeer Media shall be made through the Donations page on the Skeer News Website. Contributions will be accepted by Skeer Media for the period during which the support page is live on the Skeer News website.
4.2 Contributions received by Skeer Media will be deposited in one or more bank accounts in the name of Skeer Media together with sole trader Texas Reeks. Each contribution will be identifiable by a unique merchant identification number and accounted for separately by Skeer Media.
4.3 From the moment the contribution is processed, Skeer Media will be legally and beneficially entitled to the full amount of the contribution and the contributor has no entitlement to the return of a contribution in any circumstances other than as specified in these Terms and Conditions.
4.4 Contributors who make a one-off contribution shall receive no benefit in return for this contribution. All contributors shall have no rights to influence the editorial policy or output of Skeer News.
4.5 Contributions to Skeer Media are not charitable donations under the laws of the states and territories of Australia and, as far as Skeer Media is aware, contributions are not tax-deductible.
5. REFUNDS AND CANCELLATION OF CONTRIBUTIONS
5.1 Skeer Media reserves the right to refuse and return any contribution in its absolute discretion, including without limitation where it believes that accepting the contribution would conflict with the mission, values or interests of Skeer Media, and/or where, having regard to the source of the contribution or intentions of the contributor, Skeer Media considers that to accept the contribution could damage the independence or reputation of Skeer Media or adversely affect the relationship of Skeer Media with other contributors or stakeholders.
5.2 Contributors shall be entitled to receive a refund of their contribution for up to 14 days after receipt of payment by notifying Skeer Media by email at news@skeermedia.com. Any requests for a refund of a contribution received by Skeer media following expiry of the 14 day period will be ineligible.
5.3 Any refused and/or returned contributions shall be repaid into the account from which the contribution was made.
5.4 Recurring contributions can be cancelled at any time via by simply emailing news@skeermedia.com.
6. TRANSPARENCY OF CONTRIBUTIONS
6.1 Skeer Media reserves the right to:
6.1.1 Request the full name and contact details of the contributor for the purposes of making a contribution and carrying out these Terms and Conditions;
6.1.2 Request from the contributor any other information that it considers to be necessary or desirable to determine the provenance of the contribution;
6.1.3 Undertake any further investigations it deems fit to determine the provenance of the contribution; and
6.1.4 Publicly disclose the identity of the contributor and the amount of the contribution.
6.2 If the contributor refuses to provide any information requested by Skeer Media under clause 5.1, Skeer Media may refuse and return the contribution to the contributor at its discretion.
7. CONFIDENTIALITY AND PUBLICITY
With the exception of social media posts contributors may make using the links provided on the contributions page, contributors shall not be entitled to publicise their contribution or otherwise market themselves or any connected person or business in connection with their contribution, except with the prior written consent of Skeer Media and then only if the contributor complies with any relevant policies, procedures or requirements of Skeer Media.
8. DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY
8.1 A contributor may opt-in to receiving subscription, membership and contribution news and offers from Skeer News via the email address supplied by the contributor when he or she signs up to make a contribution (for both one-off and recurring).
8.2 Any personal information about a contributor obtained by Skeer Media as a result of a contribution being made will be used in accordance with the Skeer Media privacy policy, available at https://skeernews.com.au/privacy-policy/. By making a contribution, the contributor accepts the terms and conditions of the privacy policy.
8.3 Skeer Media collects your personal information (for example, your name and email) via the contribution form on the Skeer News Website for the purposes of making a contribution.
8.4 Our privacy policy at https://skeernews.com.au/privacy-policy/ contains information about how you may access and seek correction of the personal information that is held by us, how you may complain about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles or a registered privacy code that binds us and how we will deal with such a complaint. 9. EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY
To the full extent permitted by law, neither Skeer Media nor any affiliated person, employee, agent, officer or director shall be liable for any loss suffered by any donor or other person arising out of or in connection with a contribution, whether direct or indirect, including loss of revenue, loss of profits, loss of business or anticipated savings, loss of use, loss of goodwill, loss of data, and whether caused by tort (including negligence), breach of contract or otherwise, except in respect of any liability for death or personal injury or any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
10. MISCELLANEOUS
10.1 A failure of Skeer Media to assert a right or provision under these Terms and Conditions shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
10.2 If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable for any reason, that provision shall be eliminated or limited to the minimum extent such that the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions will continue in full force and effect.
10.3 This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the contributor and Skeer Media/Skeer News in respect of any contributions made by the contributor.
10.4 These Terms and Conditions are not intended to confer any contractual benefit on any person.
10.5 The Agreement and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with it will be governed by the laws of Western Australia and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia.
10.6 Skeer News will refrain from providing advice about the tax or other treatment of gifts and will encourage donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisers to assist them in the process of making their donation.
10.7 Certain other gifts, real property, personal property, in-kind gifts, non-liquid securities, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in some manner, must be reviewed prior to acceptance due to the special obligations raised or liabilities they may pose for Skeer News.
10.8 Skeer News will respect the intent of the donor relating to gifts for restricted purposes and those relating to the desire to remain anonymous. With respect to anonymous gifts, Skeer News will restrict information about the donor to only those staff members with a need to know.
10.9 Skeer News will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders' fees, or other means, any third party for directing a gift or a donor to Skeer News.
