Police officer allegedly assaulted sparks Orelia manhunt

A police officer was allegedly assaulted which prompted a large manhunt in Orelia on Tuesday. 

Rockingham Detectives are seeking the whereabouts of Steven James Mitchell in connection to alleged drug, firearm, burglary and steal motor vehicle offences.

Detectives alleged Mr Mitchell assaulted a Police Officer in Orelia to avoid arrest which sparked a manhunt involving the police air wing and K9 unit. 

Police swarmed an apartment in a complex in the suburb where it’s alleged the incident took place. 

Neighbours told Skeer Media the police officer jumped a fence to pursue a man on foot before they heard a “loud scream”.

“The police officer was taken away in an ambulance,” a witness said.
