Man arrested after he allegedly tried to swim from police in Mandurah Estuary

It was all hands on deck for police after a man allegedly tried to swim away from them in the Mandurah Estuary overnight.

Mandurah officers and detectives along with Forensic Police scoured the estuary’s banks, south of the city’s new bridge, as they tried the locate the man about 8:30pm.

With the help of a local boat user and the team’s torches, they were eventually able totrack the man’s movements.

It wasn’t long before he swam to shore wearing a t-shirt and blue jeans.

Police arrested the man as he got out of the water along the eastern shoreline.

It’s unclear if the man has been charged or why police were after him in the first place.

The WA Police Force Media Unit refuses to provide information to Skeer Media.
