Man in custody after Warnbro standoff

The Tactical Response Group and the Police Bomb Squad were called to assist with a situation in Warnbro on Thursday.

Police swarmed the property on Monetery Crescent alongside the Tactical Response Group and Bomb Squad after reports a 55-year-old man was possibly armed and in possession of explosives.

Officers closed several streets in the vicinity of the area as the Police Air Wing and drone kept an eye on things from above.

The standoff between the man and police lasted for more than five hours before the situation was resolved ‘peacefully’ say police.

It’s understood the man surrendered to police without incident.

St John Ambulance and firefighters from the Department of Fire and Emergency services were on standby in case things escalated.

Streets have been reopened and the area is now clear.
