Man injured after ‘sickening’ alleged one-punch attack outside Mandurah bar

Paramedics and police rushed to the front of The Monkey Bar and Lounge after a man was seriously injured in an altercation overnight.

Authorities told Skeer News a man was allegedly punched in the head from behind about 10pm.

One witness described the incident as a “sickening attack”.

It’s alleged the man who carried out the assault fled the scene prior to police arriving.

The man, in his 30s, was taken to Peel Health Campus with a critical head injury before he was rushed to the Royal Perth Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Up to Eight police units attended the hospital and 12 sent to the scene.

Investigators cordoned off the area for several hours as forensic police gathered evidence.

Blood splatter could be seen outside the Monkey Bar this morning.

Skeer News understands it’s the second major assault incident in the Mandurah CBD area within 24 hours.

On Friday, a man was walking with his friend along Mandurah Terrace when he was allegedly struck in the back of the head with a bat near Murphy’s Irish Pub about 12:40am.

The man, in his 20s, was taken to Peel Health Campus. It’s understood he suffered a fractured skull and required surgery.

Police have urged anyone with information on either incident to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
