Mandurah detectives have laid charges after a man had part of his fingers bitten off and a woman was injured during a trespass incident south of Mandurah on Monday night.
Police said the two went to investigate noises in the patio area at the rear of their Acacia Close home in Bouvard when they were confronted by a man rummaging through an outside fridge.
It’s understood the pair chased the man off but he returned and allegedly assaulted the two.
It’s alleged the man punched the woman, aged in her 60s, in the face and allegedly bit part of the other man’s fingers off, who is also aged in his 60s.
The injured resident was able to hold the man while the woman called for help.
Neighbours came to their aid and police were called.
Officers arrested the man at the scene.
Both victims were taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment to their injuries.
A 23-year-old man from Marangaroo has been charged with Aggravated Grievous Bodily Harm, Aggravated Common Assault and Trespass.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court today.
