Update: Gosnells man charged after cop cars torched outside Fremantle Police Station

Arson Squad detectives have charged a Gosnells man with Criminal Damage after three marked patrol cars were destroyed by fire outside the Fremantle Police Station on Sunday.

Police allege the man doused the three police cars parked on Leake Street, outside the rear of the station, with an accelerant before setting them alight about 11pm.

Two wagons were destroyed and a Toyota Hilux was badly damaged.

All three vehicles were written-off with the damage bill at more than $150,000.

Police said a combination of strong support from the local community and thorough investigative work by investigators, resulted in the arrest and subsequent charge of the man.

The 27-year-old man has been charged with one count of ‘Criminal Damage by Fire’ and is due to appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court on March 16.
