Update: Man killed in motorcycle crash near Mandurah

A man has been killed after serious traffic crash in North Yunderup, near Mandurah, on Saturday.

Police said a black Hyosung motorcycle was travelling west on Pinjarra Road and a white Toyota Hilux utility was travelling south on Tonkin Drive when they collided about 5:35pm.

Witness Kristy Oxenham said she saw a “helmet smashed to smithereens near the Caltex” and a “young man on the ground”.

The motorcycle rider, understood to be 23-year-old local Jack Upham, received critical injuries and couldn’t be saved.

A motherly figure to Mr Upham told Skeer Media he had just left her house and his car was still on the driveway.

North Yunderup residents were unable to access the suburb through Tonkin Drive as Pinjarra Road was closed in both directions for several hours.

Major Crash investigators spent the night examining the scene, working to piece together exactly what went wrong.

Officers urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has CCTV or dashcam vision to contact Crime Stoppers or upload it to this official police case link.
