Police officer fronts court after alleged stalking and illegal use of computer system

A Mandurah districts police officer has fronted court charged with alleged stalking and illegally using the police database.

Senior Constable Michael Menzo Elliott didn’t enter a plea when he appeared in the Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday, after he was charged with 12 counts of illegally accessing a restricted computer system and one count of pursuing another to intimidate.

It’s alleged the senior constable illegally accessed the police database system a dozen times in the past twelve months to access information including that of the woman he allegedly stalked.

The 58-year-old was released on bail and is expected to reappear in court next month.

The officer has also been stood down from duty.
