A man has led police on a pursuit after allegedly being involved in a hold-up at a tavern near Rockingham overnight.

It’s believed police chased a man driving a stolen Mercedes Benz after he was allegedly involved in a hold-up at Nags Head Tavern on Ennis Avenue in Cooloongup on Monday night.

The chase ended with a fiery crash on Secret Harbour Boulevard in Secret Harbour after the man lost control and slammed into a tree.

A resident said he heard a loud bang and witnessed officers chase and arrest a man.

Firefighters from Secret Harbour Fire Brigade extinguished the fire promptly as it burnt close to homes.

A source says that the incident is related to a number of recent armed hold-ups across Perth.
