A rescue operation was carried out after a worksite incident on Rottnest Island this morning.
Firefighters were deployed to Hotel Rottnest on Bedford Avenue about 11am, after reports that two people were injured.
It’s understood a piece of the hotel collapsed from the top floor and fell onto scaffolding where a man was working.
St John Ambulance told media the man fell three metres before he was trapped under debris and scaffold.
Another man was also working nearby when he was injured.
Firefighters were able to rescue the two before they were treated by paramedics and island nurses.
The RAC Rescue helicopter landed on the island and flew the two to Royal Perth Hospital.
The man who fell three metres, sustained serious injuries while the other man sustained minor injuries.
It’s understood the men were working on the new Rottnest Island Resort redevelopment at the time of the incident.
WorkSafe have been notified.
