The new Rockingham Foreshore will host the return of the iconic two-day horse racing event which puts thousands of dollars back into the local economy.
Held twice, previously in 2016 and 2017, the Rockingham Beach Cup is a two-day festival of events that culminates in six horse races along the Rockingham Beach Foreshore.
With no other event like it in Western Australia, the Rockingham Beach Cup draws thousands of visitors to the area.
In 2017 about 30,000 people attended the event, which contributed approximately $1 million to the Rockingham economy.
Mayor Barry Sammels said the City was delighted to be able to welcome the return of the Rockingham Beach Cup in 2019.
“The Rockingham Beach Cup is an iconic event that plays an important role in boosting the local economy and also the profile of our city,” mayor Sammels said.
“With the Rockingham Beach Foreshore Revitalisation set to be finished very soon, we can expect to see a world class event hosted at a truly stunning foreshore location.”
