Security remains at a residential property in Singleton after a fire ripped through a house overnight.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services received reports smoke was coming from a property on Finn Court about 2:05am.
A DFES spokeswoman said fire crews from Mandurah, Secret Harbour, Rockingham and Murdoch were sent to the scene.
Mandurah firefighters were the first to arrive just eight minutes after they received the call to find the residential address engulfed by flames.
Nearby residents were forced to evacuate as burning embers flew into the air.
Neighbours told Skeer Media the house was kept by the owner in memory of his wife who passed away several years ago.
“She loved the house and they had big plans for it,” nearby resident Clive said.
Clive explained there had been tensions between neighbours and teens squatting at the address.
“The owner just paid $2000 to get the windows fixed after they smashed them all,” he said.
Local residents said they had reported those disrespecting the single-story home and multiple fights in the backyard to police several times.
A City of Rockingham representative was at the scene today examining the site over asbestos fears.
Its understood police are investigating the incident.
DFES estimates the damage to be about $130,000 with the cause of the blaze yet to be determined.
