Smart Street Mall vandalised in overnight attack

Shattered glass was strewn across Mandurah’s Smart Street Mall on Wednesday night, after serious vandalism that led police on a manhunt.

About 10:50pm, reports were made to police a burglary in the city’s centre was unfolding but later revealed no items were stolen.

The Pinjarra French Hot Bread Bakery had its window smashed and Telstra phone booth was completely shattered during the incident.

A police spokesman told Skeer Media the offenders were reported as two youths on bicycles.

Police probed the area with the help of the Police Air Wing to search for the two allegedly responsible.

A witness told Skeer Media the offenders were a couple of young teens being idiots.

Police are yet to make an arrest.

The Smart Street Mall is renowned for antisocial behaviour especially with high rate of homelessness, drug use and excessive alcohol concuption in the area.

The Mandurah City Council currently have plans to upgrade the area.
