Suspicious fire destroys Greenfields house

Arson Squad Detectives are investigating a suspicious fire which caused significant damage to a house in Greenfields on Friday night.

About 10:55pm, local firefighters were called after reports were received that a Lakes Road property was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters forced entry to the home, however, found no one inside.

It’s understood the home, located near the Goegrup Lake Nature Reserve, had been vacant for some time.

After the blaze was extinguished, firefighters continued to hose down the roof rafters due to fears the building may collapse.

A witness told Skeer Media he saw flames as high as the trees around the house.

Western Power and ATOCO Gas were both onsite to cut electricity and gas to the property.

Police closed Lakes Road between Victoria Circle for over an hour.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services estimated the damaged bill at $200,000.

The fire comes hours after a Singleton home was significantly damaged by a blaze in the early hours of Friday morning.
