Suspicious fire destroys South Yunderup property

Firefighters worked to extinguish a blaze that destroyed a South Yunderup property on Wednesday.

About 3:32am, it was reported that a house had caught fire on Banksia Terrace in South Yunderup.

Multiple fire crews worked to get the fully engulfed home under control.

The fire caused over $150,000 in damage and came dangerously close to a neighbouring property’s.

Local residents described the house as an old shack and said that there may have been squatters at the property, as a red car was seen at the front of the house in the days leading up to the fire.

The blaze was deemed suspicious and police are investigating.
