A woman and a toddler have been forced to flee a burning home in Greenfields this afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the property on Yanagin Road near Wanbi Place after smoke was reported coming from the roof about 3:22pm.

Crews arrived to find the single-storey home engulfed by flames.

A woman, in the house at the time, told Skeer News she was looking after her baby grandchild when the fire took hold.

She said she was insured but many items were irreplaceable like photo memories and other sentimental valuables.

“We can’t even get the keys to move the car out,” the woman said.

At this stage, it’s not clear how the fire started.

Yanagin Road is closed in both directions as firefighters work to put the blaze out.

Police and Western Power are also at the scene.
