Traffic worker struck as car crashes into street sweeper, Mandurah Road closed

A traffic worker has been injured after he was struck by a car during roadworks north of Mandurah on Sunday.
St John Ambulance, police and firefighters rushed to the southbound lanes of Mandurah Road in Meadow Springs after reports several people were injured just before 9:30pm.
It’s understood a white Toyota sedan struck the traffic worker before it ploughed into a street sweeper several metres away.

The 37-year-old road contractor was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with suspected broken bones.
The driver of the sedan, a man, was trapped inside the car and had to be rescued by firefighters and paramedics.
A passenger in the car also suffered injuries and the pair were taken to Royal Perth Hospital.
Police sources have revealed they believe the driver of the sedan was allegedly intoxicated during the ordeal.

Mandurah Road was closed southbound at Watersun Drive with traffic diverted through Silver Sands for several hours.
Police urge anyone with information or dash cam vision to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
