A fire has caused significant damage to a houseboat in Coodanup this morning.

The Department of Fire and Emergency services (DFES) received a triple zero call that a boat was on fire at 11:25am.

Multiple fire crews rushed to the blaze in waters of the Serpentine River, adjacent to Bertram Street, including Mandurah career firefighters alongside Falcon and South Yunderup volunteers.

A DFES spokesperson said crews arrived on scene to the front half of the moored floating home fully engulfed by flames.

Firefighters spent more than two hours making sure the blaze was fully extinguished and safe for the public.

Water police also attended the scene.

It’s understood no one was on the vessel at the time.
