Watch: Pedestrians take cover during Mandurah mall rampage

Pedestrians have been forced to take cover after a ute went on a rampage through Mandurah’s Smart Street Mall in the early hours of Saturday.

Phone and CCTV vision obtained exclusively by Skeer News shows the ute plough through construction fences and slam into a rubbish truck in the CBD party precinct about 5am.

Vision shows something grab the attention of a group eating outside Wow Kebabs before they scramble for cover.

The ute travels west along the mall before it slams into a rubbish truck and reverses into a planter box.

Screeches can be heard as the driver attempts to speed off with the passenger side wheel jammed.

Spare tyres are sent flying when the ute takes off along Mandurah Terrace with the tray barely hanging on but not before clipping the wall of a vacant shopfront on the way through.

The ute was tracked to a Stewart Street beach car park several kilometres away.

A 29-year-old Beckenham man was located by police and taken to Peel Health Campus for a medical assessment before he was charged with several offences including reckless driving and exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit.

He is due to appear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court next month.
