Watch: Police lockdown Mandurah bridge in bid to end dramatic pursuit through southern suburbs

Police have charged a man after a several hour pursuit ended in Coodanup at the weekend.

It comes after a silver Mazda CX8 was stolen during a home burglary in North Fremantle on Saturday night.

Officers spotted the vehicle in Mt Pleasent and attempted to stop the driver but he allegedly failed to stop, what followed was a dramatic pursuit through Fremantle, Cannington, Armadale and Mandurah.

The police helicopter monitored the situation from above. Officers on the ground stayed in pursuit and attempted to stop the car by using tyre deflation devices.

Vision obtained exclusively by Skeer Media shows the moments police locked down the bridge on Mandurah Road and attempted to trap the car. However, their efforts were unsuccessful.

The pursuit came to an end when police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device as it travelled northbound on Forrest Highway.

Police were able to arrest the driver when the Mazda came to a stop on Steerforth Drive in Coodanup.

Officers charged a 25-year-old Wickepin man with multiple offences including Reckless driving to escape pursuit and stealing a motor vehicle.

He appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today and was remanded in custody to reappear on February 26.
